Questions & notices
The things people ask most often, followed by our ingredient, allergen and cottage-food information.
How do I place an order?
Two ways. For anything we have ready, use our ordering page and pay in one go. That is the quickest route, and there is nothing to arrange afterwards.
For a custom flavor, a large batch or something for a particular occasion, send us a message instead, through Facebook, by email, or with the inquiry form on the contact page, ideally 5 to 7 days before you need it. We will reply about availability and price, and your order is set once we have both confirmed it.
Send us a message with what you would like, through Facebook, by email, or with the inquiry form on the contact page, ideally 5 to 7 days before you need it. We will reply about availability, price and pickup, and your order is set once we have both confirmed it. Our online shop is opening soon, and ordering will be quicker still once it is.
Where is pickup available?
Pickup is arranged locally. We will sort out the place and time with you when we confirm your order, so just let us know roughly where you are when you get in touch.
How far in advance should I order?
Please allow about a week, 5 to 7 days’ notice. Everything is baked or cooked to order, so that gives us time to fit your order into the week and get the ingredients in. Larger orders and holiday weeks fill up faster, so it is always worth asking early.
Are products available every day?
No. This is a small kitchen, and nothing sits on a shelf waiting. We bake to order, which is why we ask for 5 to 7 days’ notice. Anything marked seasonal or coming soon is not being made right now.
Can I request custom flavors or baked goods?
Please ask. Whether we can take a special request depends on the ingredients, the time of year and how full the week already is, but we would rather hear the idea than not.
How should products be stored?
Please follow the storage instructions on your product label, as they differ from product to product. In general, breads and pastries are at their best the day they are made, and opened jars belong in the refrigerator. If you are unsure about a particular item, ask us and we will tell you exactly how to keep it.
Do you offer shipping?
Yes, we can ship your order through the mail, anywhere in Illinois. Just ask us about shipping when you send your inquiry.
Where can I find ingredient and allergen information?
On the label of the product you receive. Every item is labeled with its ingredients, and we are glad to go through them with you before you order. See the notice below.
Ingredient & allergen information
Please review the label on your product for its full ingredient and allergen information. If you have a food allergy or sensitivity, tell us before you order and we will go through the ingredients of that product with you.
Our products are made in a home kitchen where several ingredients are handled in the same space. Products may contain, or come into contact with, common allergens including:
- Wheat
- Milk
- Eggs
- Soy
- Peanuts
- Tree nuts
This list describes what is handled in our kitchen. Please update it if your own kitchen and products differ.
Cottage food notice
Sugarberry Cottage is a cottage-food operation. Our products are made in a home kitchen rather than a licensed commercial facility.
These products were produced in a home kitchen not inspected by a health department that may also process common food allergens. If you have safety concerns, contact your local health department.
Privacy notice
This website does not collect, store or track any personal information. There are no accounts, no advertising trackers and no analytics.
The inquiry form on the contact page does not send anything by itself. When you press the button it opens your own email program with your message already written out, and nothing leaves your device until you send that email yourself.
Details you send us (your name, contact details and what you would like to order) are used only to arrange your order, and are never sold or shared. If you would like your details removed from our messages, just ask.
